Phoenix Counsellors are trained in a broad range of counselling approaches to therapy including:-
Group Therapy - cost effective - low fee, supportive groups - specialisms include anger / anxiety management, eating distress.
The person-centered, humanistic or client-centred therapy counselling approaches as developed by Carl Rogers where the counsellor tries to convey an attitude of unconditional positive regard in the context of an accepting, non-threatening relationship - helping by clarifying, rephrasing - believing that people are capable of identifying the sources of their own emotional problems and working out solutions once freed from feelings of anxiety and insecurity.
A psycho-dynamic, psychoanalytic psychotherapy approach - focusing on unconscious mental processes and mechanisms used to repress them, using free association, dream analysis, the interpretation of transference.
Brief focused therapy - limited to a small number of sessions, say 6 or 8, usually aimed at dealing with a specific, particular symptom or event, achieving a specific objective.
Cognitive behavioural therapy approach, CBT counselling in London, Essex - evidence based, cost effective, aimed at altering unwanted behaviour, unlearning behaviour and patterns of behaviour that are unhelpful and learning new ones.
Your counsellor or therapist will endeavor, in your therapy, to use the approach best suited to your needs. An integrative approach may help where the most therapeutic of the above methods is offered.
